We learned a lot about babies in New York City last weekend during the visit of our adorable 11-month-year-old nieces Breanne and Sophie (along with their parents, Brittney’s brother Jeff and his wife Casey, and Brittney’s parents). They liked looking at pigeons and eating popsicles in the park, swinging at the local playground, and cooing at dolls at FAO Schwartz, but were a little freaked about by the rather speedy Central Park carousel.
We had a minor scare this week. Even though Brittney’s tummy seems to be growing exponentially, as seen in this photo taken on July 19th, yesterday the OB told her she was measuring a little small from the outside and sent her to get a sonogram. Turns out everything is fine, the baby is average size at 4 lb 3 oz and looks healthy in every way. Also, there has been some miscommunication with the doctor who now says our due date is September 22nd.
Besides our impromptu hospital visit we’ve been pretty busy. Brittney’s been teaching inner-city teenagers at a non-profit theater academy and doing lots of GMAT tutoring. Mark took a whirlwind trip to South America for work (left Monday night, got back Thursday morning). A short film Brittney starred in, 1 & 2, screened this Thursday as part of the HBO New York Latino International Film Festival and screens again tomorrow (notice a Latin theme here…maybe we should change our nickname Shlomo to Juan/ita). Brittney’s parents, brother, sister-in-law and nieces are on their way to visit us and see the film.
Some stills from the rather ‘artsy’ film, back when Brittney’s tummy was actually small:
Some of you have commented on how small Brittney looks in some of these pictures…well maybe these photos will change your mind. The size and shape does seem to change according to what Brittney’s wearing, what she ate, and where the baby is, but there’s no denying this baby’s getting big (over 3 pounds now)!
Also, thanks to Susi Spackman (with some technical assistance from Casey Jensen), photos from the shower in Irvine are on now online.
Our move to our new apartment last week went extremely smoothly, thanks to the help of friends and family and Mark’s tireless efforts over the three-day weekend. Everything is unpacked and organized, and we have even decorated a little. The nursery has a few items in it already, and the crib is arriving tomorrow.
We are little behind on our posting, so here are some photos from the Utah baby shower (thanks to Casey), with more at this link:
