July 4th With Grandpa Don

The weekend of July 4th we got special visit from Grandpa Don. We drove around Marmorenck (where he grew up) with him and found the house Mark lived in until age 5.

At the toy store he bought Max and Julie some books and this watering can which is Julie’s new favorite toy. At the athletic club celebration on July 5th (postponed due to rain on the 4th), Julie spent a long time watering the deck and my feet.

Max loved folding and unfolding his present, a crab beach chair. He took it over to another family with some teen boys playing cards and decided to join them for most of the afternoon. They were very patient and kind with him and even let him fold and unfold their chairs. He made us all stay away except for Grandpa.

A great day swimming, getting tattoos, relaxing on lounge chairs, and eating BBQ, corn on the cob, and sno cones.

Mark and Max stayed up for the late fireworks. The next morning we had lunch with a view at the Lobster House on nearby City Island.

The visit was short but we fit in lots of book readings, some of them on our new glider Grandpa and Mark had a frustrating hour putting together, some on our bed with silly sock gloves.

We had so much fun with Grandpa, come visit again soon! Looking forward to Bubbe and Poppy’s first visit to our house this weekend.
